You ever have one of those days where everything is going wrong?? It was just the other day … mother wasn’t feeling too hot and I was bringing her to an appointment. That all went fine .. they check the consistency of her blood, maybe the oxygen level .. something like that. We grab some lunch and one more stop .. then back home. Still no big deal .. that’s a normal day for me. Well .. now things take a twist, and I discover that the phone is out at home. In todays modern day everyone has a cell .. no big deal. Mother is still not doing any better with her breathing .. so, it’s time to take her in to the emergency room. Now … on the way to the hospital I discover my cell is almost out of charge .. great. I’m in mothers car so, I don’t have a charger in it. That’s when it popped in my head I was having a day like Jack Bauer on “24” .. nothing was going right. They decided to keep mother in to check her out .. which is the best thing. Sure, I’m a magician … but I’m no doctor. It just aggravates me to no end that I can’t do anything to help her sometimes.
Later, I get home .. test the phones, check the line and still nothing. I can’t get through to the phone company on my cell. I’m on hold for half an hour, much too long to wait for me. The cable was still up and running so, I still have the internet. I report the problem online .. but, still feel that no one is listening. It’s always nice to talk to a real person when a problem like this comes up.
Sure enough, in less than 24 hours the repair crew fixed the line that was cut. Apparently the neighbor switched cable companies and they cut my line .. nice job. Mother is out of the hospital .. she just needed a tune-up as I look at it. The phones are ringing again and things are getting back to .. ah, normal??
