You can’t ignore what’s going on in the world and it’s just tragic to hear the news this past week about the students in Virginia. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families that were involved. This of course touches on many subjects that I normally steer clear of on here. First, the loss is beyond comprehension .. these poor kids had their whole life ahead of them. These where good kids … the future of America, they deserved their chance at life.
As for the gunman … he’s simply a coward, a disgrace to the human race. This person had no regards for human life .. and should never had been able to purchase a gun. I can see both sides of this situation .. but the laws and licensing should be much stricter. I myself have a few different licenses for the pyrotechnics used in our concert show. I worked with the ATF, the FBI and the Illinois Office of Mines and Minerals. Let me tell you … it wasn’t easy, and it shouldn’t be. Owning a gun shouldn’t be simple and a mentally unstable person should have no chance of getting their hands on a weapon. There .. I said it and I’ll stand behind that. I know it’s a constitutional right .. but, not in all cases. I could go on .. but you get the point.
As the news unfolds .. I’m sure we’ll here more details of this sad event. I couldn’t help to think .. there must have been someone that would stand up to this pathetic loser .. and there was. I just read about one of the teachers at the college, Liviu Librescu, who barricaded the doorway of the classroom and saved his students lives. His unselfish act of bravery cost him his life .. he is a true hero. You see they are still among us .. they’re really out there. You never know who they are but they do exist. Sure, they may not wear a flashy outfit .. or where a cape … but they are the real deal.
Just keep your eyes open, he may be sitting right next to you.
